Sanyo Eneloop Batteries update
Thought I'd go ahead and post a follow up on the Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries I bought last year for the Garmin 60csx GPS. After using these for a year I'm very impressed with how well they hold their charge and how long they last stored. I'm no stranger to rechargeable batteries. Having raced RC cars (1/10th scale touring cars and especially 1/12th scale modified) I learned a thing or two on matching cells, cycling the cells and getting the maximum out of battery packs (especially critical in 1/12th scale modified racing). Sanyo is the tops in the technology so I had a lot of confidence with buying these for the less intense tasks of running my personal electronics. I no longer have the gear to cycle batteries to match cells for max performance. So I can't make a researched opinion on the cells or how they match up to Sanyo's claims regarding storage retention of power. I will just say that if you have gear that you can run on rechargeable cells and you have a reliable source of power to keep them in service they work well. That said, I would also keep back up lithiums or quality alkalines on hand for critical use gear. Redundancy is always a smart policy.
